Pomegranate Exports Decline in First Month of 2025
January 2025 saw a decline in pomegranate exports, with a 3.3% decrease in volume and a 9.8% decrease in value compared to the previous year. This equates to 3,001 tons of pomegranates valued at US$7.3 million, with the average price falling to US$2.43 per kilogram. This price drop significantly impacts the industry, as 99% of pomegranate exports typically occur between January and June. The Netherlands received the majority of shipments (92.2%), followed by the United States (1.9%), Colombia (1.8%), Germany (1.6%), and Brazil (1.5%). Several agricultural exporters participated, with Agroinca Productos Peruanos de Exportación S.A. leading the way.
